Freemium business models are all the rage these days. Building on last year’s hit book by Chris Anderson, Free: The Future of a Radical Price, businesses are looking for ways to use free content and services as a means of building trial, buzz and networked effects. In a digital age, where variable costs can approach zero, companies have a new kind of pricing flexibility.

So far, most of the conversation has focused on consumer-oriented models. B2B has historically shied away from free for several reasons—lack of fit with big ticket business offerings, risk of losing perceived value and willingness to pay, and the high cost of providing customer support for these (free) offerings. But this situation is changing.

This month’s webinar features Peninsula Strategies’ Robbie Baxter, a leading expert on generating recurring revenues through digital content and services. She will talk us through case studies of companies trying free offerings to serve markets ranging from small businesses to large enterprises. We will look at B2C, Consumer/Business hybrids as well as pure B2B companies.  Some of the companies considered will include Zynga, LinkedIn and Skype.
